I called and reserved a 5 × 10 outdoor, ground-level unit at a specific location most convenient to me. I asked the rep on the phone whether he needed a deposit to hold the unit. He said NO. I asked him how that could be, and he assured me that I had until Dec 1. Two days later, I showed up, and they HAD NOT held a unit for me! 🤬 Thankfully, I hadn't shown up with a full truck and a moving crew! There conveniently was a much larger and more expensive unit available, and I ended up at their other facility, INDOORS, second level. Well, there is no way I am going to my storage unit by myself after dark as a 5'4" 130 lb female. I also do not wish to be in enclosed quarters as my mom is 92, and I am her caregiver. That's a different issue altogether. Oh, and instead of one month's free rent, I got some one-time surcharge! Sweet, aren't they? My advice? Shop around. ;-)
