I believe St Peter was nearby, because this is the gate to heaven. On the surface it's a humble, family- run Italian grocery with really good olive oil. You might even be put off by the hundreds of business cards tacked up, all over, faded over time. Look deeper and you'll see nearly 100 years into California's past. You'll see the hand-labeled jars of amazing olive oil, which alone are worth the visit. They are displayed on a really old, giant stone oil press that probably hasn't moved since the place opened. You might miss the old motor and conveyor belts, near the ceiling, that once turned the millstone, or the rails in the floor that once guided a car down the facility (where the dried salami is now displayed). You'll see plenty of good food on display. Some of it is routine, trendy, prepackaged things. But look past those and find ingredients that the best cooks use. Find the dried porcini mushrooms, the Italian meats your grandmother talks about, reasonable prices, pastas, canned goods, especially tomatoes you can't find at most markets. All at reasonable prices. You'll be helped by family who has run this place forever. They know their food, the ingredients. They won't bug you, and they'll help you find what you need. You're in good hands. I have noticed only one change in 30 years: they now accept credit/debit cards!

Been going here for years. I mean years!!!!!Know the whole family now. Their olive oil is the best I've ever had!!!! So is their balsamic, truffle salt, I love the fennel sausages and fig cake up on the counter by the door. If you look closely, I have at least 3 business cards up on the wall. Very fun place to go. Highly highly recommend this place. You will miss the olive oil when you run out. I buy it by the gallon

This store is a staple of every Napa visit I make. The products are absolutely fantastic, and they have the best olive oil I have ever tasted. I picked up two gallons for home use, and another half gallon for use at our cabin in Colorado. The meat selection is great, and the jams and jellies are also plentiful and delicious. You can sit outside on a warm day and enjoy the "fruits" of your labor while you sip a local wine. (See what I did there?) If you visit Napa, you must visit Napa Valley Olive Oil. There is no reason not to check this place out.

I feel old writing this review. My first time at this store was 23 years ago. When we go to the 'wine country' we mean Calistoga, just so we can go to this store (and Farmstead down the street). Their olive oil is fantastic and we always have to buy for quite a few members of our family since we have been buying extra for Christmas gifts for years. I can't recommend this place enough, if you aren't close - make the extra effort to come and check it out.
