This is a very relaxed place in the woods. Dirt roads to get in that can be a little muddy. You must carry your bags to the cabins as you cannot drive right up to them. I appreciated the lack of vehicle traffic disturbing our down time. This also meant children were a bit safer to explore right around the cabins without fear of parking lots / traffic. Very nature friendly experience. The porches off the cabins facing right into the woods are a real plus. and several boardwalks allow you to walk through the woods as you are between the Withlacoochee River and the Rainbow River. One leads to a dock on the Withlacoochee side. A dark water river that we used to enjoy fishing on when I was younger. The Rainbow River is sparkly clear fed by springs that you can visit by boat or by driving to the state park. A large resort style main building has games for kids, lounge areas, and a nice view of a small pond. We went just to get away from it all, took advantage of using the canoes and loved going out on the Rainbow River. I could see this really being great for a family vacation, it is not near anything other than the river, bike trails, etc. but if you want to feel like your cabin with the comfort of a cabin this is the place. You can drive or bike into the small town of Dunnellon for eating out, groceries etc. I recommend the rainbow river state park for a visit and there was a place that you can rent canoes and they will take you up stream and you get to float down. It ends at a small restaurant / bar so you can eat when you wrap up if you like.

The grounds were sprawling and right on the river which was awesome. The cabin however was a little old and in need of an update. The beds were not comfortable and to have a full kitchen, there were not many kitchen utensils/pots pans, etc. Good thing we brought just about everything. I was also disappointed there was no real spot to have a camp fire going, only small grills for cooking. Other than that being outside and that close to the river was great.

Rose was super attentive and nice on the phone, in person, and emails. Beautiful pe son inside and out. Cabins are rustic just like the other reviews say but clean. Many amenities, so much nature. Definitely recommend.

We had the absolute best stay here for a long weekend at the villas! Yes the accommodations are outdated but they are clean, the water's hot, and they provide everything you need. We came to be OUTSIDE! The large screened in patio was really nice. I loved starting my day with the very short walk to the Withlacoochee River to listen to the birds. You could walk or short drive to City Beach to go swimming in the beautiful clear water. Even if you stay at the villas, you can visit the property with the cabins and I highly recommend doing this! It's beautiful there - very much in the wilderness (the villas are in town but only a 5 min drive away), beautiful walking/biking trails and kayaks/canoes to rent and take out on the Rainbow River. We had such a great time and plan to go back again and stay in the cabins.

No have 12 cabins for rent.
In case you dont clean up after them or more for cleaning deoderizers so next resident doesnt smell dog or just because they can. On the beach I have had to pay 60 per dog for 3 day stay plus deposit that took a couple of weeks to get back after stay. Some people are very clean and responsible others not so much.
