Great place to donate. I personally donate platelets every so often and the staff is exceptionally friendly and skilled. Surprisingly good venue for catching up on movies you may have missed.

They do not pay for donations. You need to bring a photo ID and be prepared to answer questions about your medical history
If you go to https://www.redcrossblood.org/ you can find out all the specifications for donating as well as schedule an appointment. The need is very high so it is definitely worth trying again. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They will be able to answer any questions you have.
