Second time in two weeks that I have tried to go to this location only to have it closed. If scheduling is an issue that's fine, but you need to update your hours so that folks are not disappointed.

So grateful to find this place! Awesome volunteers! They are sometimes closed if it's extremely cold or if the heat index reaches 106° f. Possibly close if they can't find enough volunteers also. I go first thing in the morning.

Sure wish there was some way for you to let us know if the center will not open for the day. It has been closed for 3 days. Perhaps a Facebook page where you can let folks know?

I have tried 5 times during their regular posted hours but, each time, they've been locked up. And it's not like I'm getting there right before they're scheduled to close. So don't waste your time or gas.

Dumpster ....
No
For occasional things like extreme weather and lack of staff, the area can be closed without notice sometimes.
I also went last week and took a picture of myself next to the sign with the posted hours. The hours say that they should be open and yet the entire place was locked up. I have the pictures and it was terribly frustrating. I have no information on who what when where or why. But just one sign would be a very nice thing for people who go out of their way to recycle their own waste one would think. Just one sign. My encounter was last Saturday at 3:30 DM and the posted signage says that they are open until 5 p.m. several people came by and stopped and asked me questions as I was taking pictures but I could only show them what I was seeing as well
I did go to the recycling center myself. But since your question regards curbside pickup specifically, I would suggest that you call the number on your bill or visit the website for the city of Kansas City if that is who is responsible for your pickup. Google is not responsible for your pickup. A company has been licensed by the city to do that work and you pay them through your bill. Follow that paper trail and you will find your answer
If paperback yes, if hardback probably need to tear covers off and recycle in 2 separate bins. Maybe consider donating to Goodwill or something even if out of date might help someone?
If you are a kansas city resident and the boxes are broken down, they will accept them for free
No but there is a place in nkc that will pay for recylables
