THE WORST! The most unprofessional, uncaring staff. My husband stayed 3 days post surgery and I will say they literally do NOT care about the patient. There was never anyone to help him get up and walk post surgery - as per doctor’s orders. It was literally left to the family members to do it risking a fall. Nurses were usually nowhere to be found. Everyone is chart obsessed. Practically zero personal interaction for patients suffering from cancer. If you do not have a loved one staying with the patient he/she goes totally unattended. The staff’s attitude is unfriendly and uncaring at best. My husband happens to be a retired doctor who was on staff at Baptist for 40 years and he’s appalled by the personal care received by patients under the guides of “new medicine” and supposedly this Award Winning Facility.

Miami Cancer Institute, specifically Dr. Jane Mendez, has been guiding me through my breast cancer journey and I highly recommend her! Her ability to explain in a manner that is both medical/science based and comforting to the range of human emotions I’ve experienced is exceptional. Not to mention her wealth of experience as a surgeon. Also, my interactions with every team member has been great - patient navigator, radiology, surgical coordinator, etc.- all have been wonderful and caring. Truly, Dr. Mendez has been such a pleasure. I have peace of mind that I’m being cared for by an outstanding physician and an outstanding person.

My mother has a fantastic oncologist. My gripe is getting around the facility. When you're sick and you have to park in the East Wing and make the pilgrimage to the West Wing is deplorable. I am not in good health and must do this EVERYTIME I bring my mother for appointments. I understand the COVID thing, however, something else must be done. I have to push my mother in the wheelchair for such long distances really does a number on me. It's been 2 years of this and it's tiring already. Open those main doors for crying out loud!

If you value your life go elsewhere. The disorganization here will end your life. This cancer institute is clinic based. You will never ever be able to speak to your doctors office because he has no staff. Nurses are rude, uneducated and unprofessional. My father began his process over a month ago. After his diagnosis we are still waiting for everything to be coordinated. You would think a cancer institute would that, but they don’t. They make the patient get his own appointments to schedule a port for chemo and basically the care is up to you. How sad for the elderly that have no family. They will die waiting. Please seek care somewhere else. Time is of the essence when it comes to cancer. We regret ever bringing our father here. So many people here with important titles but do nothing to improve patient care. We received a phone call for my father’s patient advocate coordinator her name is Alejandra Ospina she gave us her direct number (or so we thought) for any help with my father care. She would advocate for us. NOTHING this lady never answered our messages and her so called direct phone number was actually to the calling center. All calls to this place get screened as if they decide which calls should be acknowledged. Disgraceful! Stay away from this place you will waste your time something you don’t have when dealing with cancer.

I suggest you call the hospital, as they have programs that could help you pay.
Yes,in any medical diagnosis and treatment you are entitled to have a second opinion. You meed to bring your medical records. Especially the origen of your medical condition, report from surgery performed and notes of your present medical treatment recommendations. Call and set up your appoitment.
I think you should call the Hospital to get an answer for that question

Yes, parking is free. It's a parking garage on the south side of the bldg.
Miami Cancer Institute has an infusion clinic where platelets as well as other intravenous treatments can be administered to patients. However MCI is an advanced cancer center and is not a hospital. MCI is not open at night and on weekends. Therefore if platelets transfusion is urgent, I would recommend presenting to the hospital.
Mr. Hernandez, the MetroRail stop would be that of Dadeland. Once it overflows, you would have to request a taxi or an Uber that takes you 20 blocks or so west, where the center of MCI is located
It is given by the nurse or Dr
And
They have a good cafeteria service, not cantina service.
They have about the most advanced radiation oncology division in South Florida, so if indicated yes
