Loved this campground. It was spread out enough for privacy and had the convenience of some nice restroom. The camp host, Cheryl, was very friendly and gave lots of great information. I will definitely be back.

The campground was clean and very quiet. Beautiful area with endless activities!! I absolutely loved the above ground quartz deposits. They were huge and all over the area!! Look out for yellow jackets. We camped at the very first campsite. There were a few yellow jackets but they didn't bother us a bit.

We stayed at site #15 from Sunday to Monday. The campground was clean as were the bathrooms. We were right across from the bathroom and the water pump. It was a nice stay. Very quiet. Beautiful sunrise and starry night. There wasn’t, however, a large enough level ground for our tent. We kept the tent to the left of the fire pit/picnic table area (looking at the site from the stairs). That was unfortunate. It makes me wonder what other campsites do not have a level spot. 🤔 FOR KAYAKING OR OTHER WATER CRAFT: The lake IS nearby - HOWEVER if you brought a kayak or an other watercraft device, drive to the fishing spot down the road some more. This campsite IS NOT an easy trek to the lake if you are carrying a paddle board or kayak!!! We also tried taking it down near Promontory Picnic Area and it was pretty steep, though, doable if you have determination and grit! (unless you are walking uphill in slippery, wet shoes!!!)

Forget the bears!! Beware of the ground squirrels!!! Obviously ppl are feeding them...BooHiss! Everytime we sat down to eat, they would come running and practically jump in our laps for food. Also, if you have any food out on the tables they WILL GET INTO IT! Bring a container to keep your food locked in! We did not feed them, bc that is bad for wild animals, so for "revenge", they CHEWED the wires on our car! Apparently, Subarus and German made cars have SOY in the wires. So when we went to start our car, it would not turn over. Luckily we had cell svc. (Verizon) and were able to call a tow truck. A few kind campers tried to help us. (Thank you fellow Subaru driver for the attemted battery boost!) Also, luckily, my hubby is an engineer and was able to reconnect the chewed wire and start the car back up. The tow truck followed us to town to the car repair place. I will be bringing Amonia spray in my car from now on when we camp and spray it in and around the engine/car. In 30 years of camping, this has never happened! The campsite is beautiful and mostly quiet. Tent camping is hit or miss. If you are lucky you will get a flat spot. Most are slanted. We fit ours on the pad provided, which meant no campfire bc we were practically in the pit. Luckily, a kind neighbor invited us over to his fire. Each night car alarms went off (normal according to the camp host. I don't understand how this happens?). The coyotes have their nightly howl which is cool, but not so much out of a dead sleep. As one reviewer mentioned there were a few people driving around "gawking" at you as they drove by slowly. I felt like a "camping show". The generator users were respectful. The trail around the lake is gorgeous! If you MTB, go clockwise and be prepared for a strenuous ride. A lot of hike/bike scrambling/hiking over rocks and roots. Don't be deceived by the low elevation gain and it is 14 miles from camp, not 10. This kicked our butts, but it was totally worth it! I would do it again in the cooler weather.

If you reserve the site online the daily park pass is included. If you are going on a weekend definitely reserve a spot! The campgrounds are full.
Yes. But please keep them inside at night because it is a vastly wild area. During the day they should not be left alone outside also, always keep them within eye sight.
Yes, there are fire rings, and currently there are no fire restrictions/bans in effect
I'd say site 11 to 13 for the view of the water and the sunrise.
They have a few walk up spots, go to www.recreation.gov to check availability
There is a trail from camp. From camp the shortest route to water is .75 mile walk along trail.
Some sites are First Come First Served, check at recreation.gov or download the app.
