This is a really nice smaller municipal park. It looks like the park is very new. Roads in the park are dirt and sites are gravel. The sites in our section were very long and wide. Ours was probably 90 feet long. There are no trees in the park so there is not much shade but that was fine with us. The hookups were a bit of a challenge. Power and water were about 25 feet away and the sewer was 20 feet. So, you need to be prepared for that. AT&T cell service was good, Verizon was marginal and the park WIFI was not good at all. The park location is excellent. It is a short walk down the street to Black Beach and there are several state parks close by. Split Rock Lighthouse is also just down the road. We were in the section closest to Lake Superior so that was not any road noise.

This campground is fine as far as municipal campgrounds go, but there should not be campsites that close to Highway 61. Not only was the highway insanely loud ALL night, but there was an ATV trail right in front of our site that people would ride their loud ATVs on until at least midnight. And the shower facility was so far away from sites 1-15. We were close to the outhouse, but they left a giant stadium light on the entire night that did not even give off light when in the outhouse, so it was really just there to annoy you when trying to fall asleep. There is also almost nowhere to put your tent. Most of the site was gravel and a lot of parts on the grass were too close to the fire pit. All of these things would not be as big of a deal if you are in a camper or RV, but when you are REALLY camping then these things make for a miserable experience. They should have the sites closer to the highway be only for campers/RVs and the spots at the back near the lake only for people who are really going to camp. Bathrooms were clean and campground was well maintained.

Great place to have a base camp while exploring the North Shore!! Very well thought out, and easy to online check in. Couldn't be happier!

A very nice campground that will hopefully get better with time. Our camping experience was very pleasant and the staff was very friendly. There isn't any tree coverage, but keep in mind this is a fairly new campground with young trees. The ATV trail is right at the campground entrance, which makes it perfect for camping & wheeler adventures. The office is on the small side and doesn't offer camping supplies, snacks, or Black Beach merch. The office is only open certain hours, so make sure to plan ahead if you need firewood. Our site was a full hook up, with a level gravel pad and a picnic table. For the sites that are only water & electric, it would be nice to have a dump station at the campground. We will be back again most likely in a few years and will give it another go.

You have to get it from the office when you check in. The bathrooms and showers also require a password.
