This campground was great! Sarah the current host was very welcoming and full of tips about the park and it's surroundings. She was always around if you needed her. The sites could be a little more private but then again you're not in the middle of the woods, its a public park. Clean bathrooms, decent showers firewood and ice are all right there. Good times!

Tent site 31.. Hard to find a decent place to put the tent. (Tree roots, sloped, small) Bathrooms were not even close to clean, trash containers overflowing. Beach was nice. Convenient boardwalk and kayaks

One of my favorite places to camp near the twin cities! My family has been coming here for the past 8 years and it’s always such an amazing experience. This year I spent a week at the town park with friends and it was my favorite year yet! Sarah the new camp host was so incredibly outgoing, sweet and accommodating. Her dog beans is just the cutest. I hope to see them both again next year as they made our trip this summer just that much better with how welcome we all felt!

Only shopping in near the Ferry drop off point "in town." Plenty to fill a day walking shop to shop and museum.

To add to what Ryan said, you can also park in Bayfield and walk or take a bike across the ferry. There are also places on the island near the dock to rent bikes/mopeds.

Is it still first come first serve?

No, you need to reserve a spot online. It's becoming pretty commercialized with RV camping across the street. I'd gather it's been a few years since you've been there. http://www.bigbaytownpark.com/
