Solid spot for a takeout spot. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and both looked clean and inviting. The food was "pretty good", but the true winner of the evening was the Micheladas -- do yourself a favor and leave yourself some time to enjoy yours as they are not tiny. I know Mexican food is always tough to gauge as everyone has a differing opinion of what it "should" taste like, but for me, the asada was a little lacking: a little thin and bland, like it was boiled instead of grilled. Lastly, the salsa was damn good also, both the red and the green were flavorful, had a decent kick. Some reds can have a strong acid level that affect my heartburn and greens can sometimes have too much lime, but that was not an issue for either of these.

Called over phone to place my order. They said it would take 10 minutes, so I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes later and paid for my food. The food wasn't ready yet, so I had to wait. I ended up waiting an extra 30 minutes before I walked back up to the cashier and asked about my order. They looked confused and were looking at their other prepared orders before realizing my order had been sitting there and they had just never called my name. By the time I took the food home, which is a 3 minute drive, some of the food was already cold.

Had lunch here today. Somehow I ended up behind the Pomona Racetrack and I saw this diner. El Merendero! Im hungry. You down? I m down! Food was delicious and the service was the best. Sometimes when you least expect it you find a Diamond. Today was my turn. I will definitely be going back. I loved this place. El Merendero! Try it, you'll love it too.

I've been coming here for over 20 years. It was early afternoon on a Sunday. I was craving Menudo. But then I was hungry and was also craving beef hardshell taco, chile relleno, steak picado plate and shrimp cocktail 🤣🤣🤣 So I called the order for pick up. Everything was good . The taco was a bit thin though but good.
