It's been about 15 years since the last time I have been here. The caves have been ruined by individuals with spray paint and garbage. I mourn what it has become. It is terribly sad.

Unfortunately undisciplined children spray painted all over everything.... the monuments.... scribbled on with profanity. It's sad that something historically sound is being defaced. It was fun. Wasn't prepared though. Definitely need a coat! Not a jacket haha 1.COAT 2.FLASHLIGHT 3.GOOD SHOES LEAVE NO TRACE! 🙏🏼

Neat place. It takes a good long bumpy ride to get to it and there is some big rocks to climb over to get in, but once in it is beautiful. It is sad to see the cave covered in graffiti, but the rich local history is compelling.

We came here in the summer, it was hot outside, but it was cold cold in the caves. We only made it halfway through bc my daughter has to use the bathroom. Definitely take flashlights, one or more per person. Its a little difficult to get into, lots of uneven rocks and steep. Definitely need to be in shape to get into the cave. Getting out is easier. I took two 13 year olds and a 9 and 10 year old. They loved it!!

Questions & Answers

Can you hike up the rough road? How long is the access road?

We had a couple of mini vans and a Corolla in our group and they all made it without damage in the beginning of July 2020. The first few miles of the road was very well maintained. We had to move pretty slow for the rest. A lot of it depends on picking a smooth path and how much others have torn up the road the last time it got wet. I've also had the opposite experience. I had a boat (grandpa car) with a 4.5 quart oil pan that was reduced to 4 qt when I hit a big bump/rock (which was a blessing really, I mean who makes a 4.5 qt oil pan? What a waste of half a quart!). But my brother who was a little more aggressive and picked a worse path caused damage to his transmission and needed a tow to get out. So use caution. Stop when you don't feel comfortable anymore and walk the rest of the way.
