Oak Flat was a wonderful gem to stay at near the LA area. It's a small campground with two main loops at the top of one of the hills just outside LA. The area is moderately forested. Smokey the Bear (pre-diet) greets you to a one-lane paved road up to the campground (second right). There were three pit toilets, which had been recently redone, and two dumpsters for garbage collection. I wouldn't want to pull anything larger than a car+travel trailer, or moderately sized (I'm guessing in the 30' range) RV. No hookups, but everything was quiet and pleasant. I left my travel trailer there during the day for about a week recently, and everything was just fine (locked). It's free with an America the Beautiful pass, which a ranger asked to see my third day there, around 10:30 am. I was a little bit leery of the place from previous reviews, but it was a nice stay. Thank you!

I'm giving it 4 stars based on interaction with other campers. Friendly atmosphere. Restrooms were cleaner than I expected. Quiet remote place, nice breeze. Bring your food and water supplies. Overall, positive experience.

No big RVS. Clean. Bathrooms, fire rings, picnic tables. Requires pass. 5 bars Verizon. No water. 16 sites. Hiking trails.

The campground was decent plenty of campsites not overcrowded typical bathrooms but you can hear the freeway all night long all in all for the price of camping it's a good campsite

No reservation, it is never full and very lovely place with hundreds of oak trees. Only need an Adventure Pass that is purchased at 7Eleven in Castiac, if you already have not purchased a pass somewhere else.
No. Nody. Solitude. Loneliness. 3 years ago. But now, no Good. Much Models. Much peepee. The Big stinko.
Not really. We've camped there multiple times and we just did and we have never seen one.
There are fire pits although when it becomes dryer, the pits and signs will say no use, only camp stoves. The Boy Scouts have a facility here too.
Where exactly is it
I was fine at 30ft long.
Yes, 14 days is correct but you also need an Adventure Pass, which you can get at the 76 gas station in Castaic for $30. After 14 days you have to leave for a day then you can return for another 14 days.
$30 per year. Well worth it. 😊
There's no where to pay but if a ranger stops by which they frequently do, you need to have an adventure pass hanging in your car.
