A truly WONDERFUL 28 mile loop trail, very well marked. Kudos for the trail maintenance in some of the areas of stinging nettles. The trail was widened (not in all areas, but some) with a mower or a trimmer so hikers didn't have to brush against the plants. There are many camp sites, most near a water source. There are no privys, so business must be attended to away from trails and streams. Yellow Dog Run is a *gem*. What a beautiful spot! Gently rolling terrain with a few steep inclines/descents. Take your time walking this path, and enjoy it and its history. #padcnr #leavenotrace

Can't recommend this trail more! Definitely for all levels of backpacker with breathtaking views and lots of wildlife!!

Our start location was slightly East of this drop pin due to construction in summer 2018 (shown in image). Starting from this location there are a few inclines and in June a lot of stingers at some stages! We enjoyed what we did of the loop and if we'd had more time we may have completed it but we were a bit disappointed as we found it to be mostly forest from our starting point which we weren't anticipating. We'd expected more vistas / views from the trail itself, if we'd known what to expect I'm sure we wouldn't have been disappointed! Maybe if we'd chosen a different starting location we'd have had a better time.

My boy scout troop did a backpacking trip here over 3 days. It was okay, but it was a very damaged path. The water was everywhere and it was very rocky. I slipped about 3 times during the hike. The only good thing I can say is that it was flat most pf the way. If you live in the area it is definitely a good hike. But since we drived 2 hours to get there, I think it was ok.

Campsites are plentiful throughout most of the trail and there is a great guide book available at pahikes.com
No parking pass necessary. Leaving a note in your vehicle on the dashboard or someplace visible is enough. Include the dates you'll be gone and trail(s) you are backpacking. Ive never directly informed them and have never had any problems.
