Very good and very small French Restaurant on Pine Street. Food has always been good every time we have ate here.

I always love this place. The food's excellent, services excellent, very good prices for San Francisco!

What a fantastic place. The creamy spinach soup with cheese and perfectly and so rich and creamy very fresh. I had the salmon with sauce. It was cooked perfectly and the vegetables with lightly blanched and seasoned with a pinch of salt that really brought everything together. The warm bread was a fantastic touch as well as the Pinot noir glass that I had. I look forward to coming back again and support in this local business

I'm not sure the "french restaurant" description is accurate. The cook is Japanese and mixes French and Japanese cuisine to the point where I did not see the French part. The food was a mixed bag, some tasty, some not so tasty. The restaurant is small and cozy, with a nice view of Pine St. However, it smells strongly of cooked food, as there is a lot of frying involved and most of the steam and smells come inside. We had to take our coats to the cleaners. Also, seating by the window, on a mid december night, I grew very cold, but maybe it's just me. We paid $183 without tip for two persons, full course meals (appetizer, entree, desert, and two drinks each). The champagne by the glass was great. The daily soup also great, it was a veggie soup. The garden salad had too many leaves, too little extras for my taste: two small tomato slices, and two cucumber slices. The escargot with pasta, while innovative, was a bit bland. The catch of the day fish was good, but the veal was so so, with some sort of curry sauce that confused the hell out of my mashed potatoes taste :) My fruits with creme anglaise were OK, the cheesecake also OK, but nothing exceptional here, except for the soup and the fish. To summarize, I took one star out due to OK, not excellent food, and one more star due to the strong smell and cold place by the window.

Walking distance, great spot, went there the last time we saw a concert at the Masonic.
The appealing thing to the place is it's intimacy which in return warrants a reservation. Small side note, I try to reserve wherever I go whenever possible because then you're expected and normally receive more attention. Of course you need to stick to it but it's worked for me so far. Rue Lepic is one of my favorites
