Hands down the best wine shop in Oakland, possibly even California. The owners know their wine and I honestly don’t know how they offer at such low prices. Always a pleasure to shop there.

Really wonderful selection of wines from all over the world, great prices and owners are well informed and very helpful. I came in to browse the first time, mentioned my favorite wine areas (Cotes du Rhone and CA Pinot Noir) and was directed to a variety of options and prices. Bought 6 different bottles and ALL were uniformed excellent, from the $14.50 bottle to the $25 bottle. Came back for 6 more two weeks later (two were a repeat, four were new) and this time the owner threw in a wonderful bar of Tcho chocolate. I'll definitely be coming back regularly.

I first learned of the Wine Mine while passing by on a bike ride. A fellow rider told me how much he liked this wine shop, and that they did tastings on Saturday for $1, so you could taste the wines versus randomly selecting from the shelf. Sounded worth a try. I went by and was impressed by the selection and price point. That was 2011. The Wine Mine is more than just a place to buy wine, it's a place to buy GOOD wine that's been selected by a small business owner who's passion is for great wines, and he's willing to part with those great wines at great prices to share his passion. I also love that their wine club is "daily drinkers" - wine that you don't need a special occasion to open yet is really nice. Definitely check it out - far superior experience than anywhere around. The newsletters are great too.
