I love to visit the park for a variety of sports and games. Pool is very nice. Picnics are great for family activity and gathering place. Large spaces and parking available. In addition to riding my bike in the park along the paths, I also go from Van Cortlandt park bike path to Empire Trail South up to Elmsford a wonderful 13 mile ride with the opportunity to ride further north!

A really big park. There are tons and tons of things to do there. Playing fields and playgrounds are scattered about the park's edges, in the center is a nice forested area. The park is home to the country's first public golf course, the oldest house in the Bronx, and the borough's largest freshwater lake. There is also a bike path named the Putnam trail which stretches a great span of the state.

Outstanding trails, modest lake with resident swan couple and 4 cygnets, many water and song birds, Parade Grounds for a nice daily walk plus historic VC Mansion. Love this place.

It's eerily cool to see the fog rise from the fields of Van Cortland Park at 6:30am when it'sdark out or when it's light out, this natural phenomena makes for a great effect or scenery for a horror film or even a Halloween themed photo shoot but you'd have to be an early riser if you want to see it and be in the thick of it.

Yes you can. Bring a grill l didn't see any built in grills in the area I was in.

Go for a hike in the main path. The field could also work and there is like a museum that could make it as well. Go and explore!
if a concert is scheduled don't miss out and the park is open year round but pay attention to hours for when it is open there should be signs with park hours posted usually along the entranxe enjoy.
There's a few grills proved, there's not too many so you can bring your own grill. ♨️ 👍
