Moderate trail, quartzite ridge line and requires hiking boots. Only about 600-700 elevation gain and a great view of the Housatonic Valley

The gf and I were bored one weekend, and decided to find something to do and stumbled upon this mountain. So we decided to try it. The parking lots is a decent size but we came the day after it rained and there were huge puddles everywhere. So if you plan on trying this place after or during rain make sure you bring boots. The trail leading up what's pretty easy just a slight incline. The trail up to the peak was moderately challenging but not too bad. I wouldn't recommend bringing little kids because there are thin sections to pass through and rocks to climb down in order to get to certain areas and not very safe for little ones. But the view from the top was beautiful. Coming down the other side there's a small waterfall and stream that were also pretty cool. All in all I had a good time on a boring weekend.

Beautiful views, somewhat rocky approach. The trails are well kept, but the stone stairs sometimes approach light bouldering. Would definitely recommend.

Great place to go hiking. It took us about 2hrs hike the complete mountain. We did have to take brakes. It is a moderate hike take your time and be careful and you won't have a problem. The view at the top is amazing. You can see two state from there and take lots of pictures. It feel like your standing on top of the mountain literary lol.

Yep!
When you're facing the mountains from the parking lot the right side is the steeper of the two trails. It's nothing too crazy but it definitely is a more strenuous hike then if you take the trail to the left. If you want to make the loop and do it the easy way. Start out going left hit the summit and then come back down the Steep side and it won't be as bad.
No. It's not a camping area. A good place to camp nearby is Beartown State Forest in Monterey (and Great Barrington). It's about 5 miles away maybe 15 min drive from Monument Mountain.
