We came here off hours, so we only got to see the outside of the house and the view But just the view is worth coming for. In the Summer, we were among very green grass, nice trees, and a view of the lake! It was so nice. The house is also beautiful and very interesting.

i really hate to give one star to any review but when they don't allow you to take pictures of the inside of a house tour (EVEN WITHOUT A FLASH) and they want you to pay $22 for two people to take the tour it upsets me. they offer to sell me postcards but i would like to take my own pictures of what i find interesting for my own memories. so after driving more than 90 minutes and leaving disappointed thats why i have no choice but to give one star. the grounds where nice and they do have some walking paths to a few places you could sit to enjoy a view and the staff was really nice and understood my disappointment. it even looks like when you have a wedding here you have to use their photographer and again on wedding photos inside the home. i've been on tons of house tours and some with valuables that cost more than most will make in a lifetime and the allow photos.

This is a must see if you are close to Rhinebeck, NY. Lovely, historic, period- furnished. The dining room is a gem; ornate carved mahogany ceiling and sideboard. Library ceiling was restored to former beauty-hand stenciled. Docent was excellent.
