Could not have had a better time!! Erica was amazingly welcoming, knowledgeable, and a fantastic guide. I had never been on a horse before and was nervous but Erica’s attitude and demeanor put me at ease. She’s a natural leader and a natural teacher: never critical, her guidance is intuitive and sure. She knows the horses, and she accurately pairs prospective riders with the appropriate horse to make sure all involved have the best and safest time possible. I can’t say enough good things about Erica and the whole team. They’re all fantastic, they’re all knowledgeable, and they’re all enthusiastic. More than worth every penny.

The gals at Painted Bar are hands-down the best at making everyone feel comfortable and safe while riding. The horses alone are a class-act, handling riders of all levels with ease. Taylor, Anna, and Tig helped everyone really enjoy the ride with guidance along the way and engaging instruction. Even with a group of mixed levels they made sure the experience was enjoyable. We did the "Spirited Ride" and loved the views.

We had a blast on the 1.5 hr adventure ride and would highly recommend the experience. Our riding experience ranges from professional rider/ show jumper in Wellington, FL to full-on beginner (3rd time on a horse). The horses picked for us matched our abilities perfectly. We had opportunities to ride our horses a bit, not just a retired horse trail ride. Thanks for the wonderful morning ride, we will absolutely be back when we’re in the area. Only regret is not picking a longer ride!

Abby was a great guide. Very patient and knowledgeable. It was a great experience. I love that the group sizes are small and they go out with two instructors so you get personalized attention in improving your horseback riding skills. Customer service is great, they're busy so they don't really answer phone calls but are great with email. I can't wait to come back. You guys have definitely motivated me to take some lessons in cantering. Also the pre-ride info session was funny, informative and they've really got their metaphors down. I highly recommend making this a must try experience while I'm the finger lakes.

All of the information for trails, including pricing and the age and weight requirements, are on our website. You can get directly to the information about trail rides here: http://paintedbarstables.com/trail_riding.html Pricing varies depending on length. While we can take younger kids in regular riding lessons, we require kids to be 8 and up in order to hit the trails. Can I have my 3 year old ride on the horse with me?

While old enough for lessons, your child is not yet old enough for trail rides. Our insurance requires all public trail riders to be 8 years old or older. This rule is a good rule because all of our trail riders must ride the horse independently and be strong and large enough to control the horse on their own. We NEVER allow double riding as it is A) dangerous for the child and B) confusing for the horse. While we often see people doing this with their own children on their own horses, these are experienced riders taking risks with their own deep and well-founded relationships with their children and animals - something that is impossible for public trail riding. Facilities that tend to allow this are not putting safety as their primary concerns - something that is paramount for my farm. Sometimes we are able to coordinate a trail ride simultaneously with a lesson so that your child can ride with an instructor while the older riders go out on trail.
