Do yourself a favor and don’t miss the Canterbury Shaker Village guided tours. It’s like stepping back in time 100 years or so and indulging in what it what it was like to create a slice of “heaven on earth.” I took the Shaker innovation tour and was astounded to learn so many modern conveniences were developed by the highly efficient, proficient Shakers who had a collective aversion to waste. Our tour guide Kevin knew all, shared all and patiently answered every curious question. He gave a crowd pleasing kind of tour to people of all ages, all backgrounds and from far away states. It was a thoroughly enjoyable educational, historical and delightful experience. Would give 10 stars if I could❤️❤️❤️

This place is a must visit if you're into architecture and/or cultural history. The Shakers were a fascinating people and I look forward to reading more about them. It's free to roam around outside and be sure to pop in the admissions center to watch their free 9 minute video which is a very well done overview of the Shakers. My next visit I hope to do the 1pm tour which let's you look at the interiors of the buildings.

It was nice. The museum was nice upstairs. Shaker made furniture. The village was as it was where they used it. The nobody lives there anymore. There are guided tours available to learn about the Shakers and walk the site. It was a nice detour from driving straight through to our next destination. It was worth it.

You can walk the grounds and picnic there for free or you can take one of the guided tours available. We just walked around at our own pace. It was was old and quaint. It was like stepping back in time as we observed the old buildings and their purposes. It was cool to see some of the items they used to print with and cook with. We also saw some of their kitchen and laundry appliances. The gardens were very impressive as well.

There have been various restaurants at the Village over the years. Currently there isn't one operating. Hoping that feature resumes soon!
