As a staff member at Madison Park Development Corporation, I have the pleasure of working with CHAPA's incredible team on a regular basis. PLUS their annual dinner event is not to be missed! Thank you for all that you do for affordable housing & the communities that need it most.
Amy Schectman
CHAPA has consistently been in front of all the important affordable housing issues of our time--advocating ferociously and effectively, pulling together people with various interests and viewpoints, and conducting key pieces of research and outreach to broaden support for the key thing that makes a quality of life possible--a safe, secure home. BRAVO!
Wendell Joseph
CHAPA is one of the most consistent and dedicated voices for affordable housing projects and policies in Massachusetts. It's tough work, but they always show up on behalf of the people and communities who need it most.
Colin Killick
A critical organization advocating for affordable housing for all.

Hi Maureen, thanks for your question. The property should have a deed restriction attached that outlines the resale restrictions. This document should also make note of who the monitoring agent is for the property. This is the organization you should reach out to when starting the resale process or seeking your resale price.
Hi Herbie. If you are in need of emergency shelter, please call the Department of Housing and Community Development's Homeless Coordinator at (866) 584-0653.
Hi Anthony. The information on our site related to Chapter 40B homeownership is specific to Massachusetts. The first-time homebuyer courses listed on our site usually award certificates that apply only to Massachusetts mortgage products or HUD-certified loans, but we would recommend following up with the agencies individually as to what they offer: https://www.chapa.org/housing-courses/homebuyer-education-agencies There are also lots of agencies in Rhode Island, like RIHousing, that offer courses: https://www.rihousing.com/homebuyer-education/
Hi Diana, please see our website's 40B page for more information and who to contact: https://www.chapa.org/housing-policy/chapter-40b. "Selling Your 40B Unit" under the section entitled Current 40B Homeowners and Tenants might answer your questions. If not, don't hesitate to reach out to the contact on that page!
Great question! Mass.gov defines rental assistance this way: "Rental assistance programs provide financial aid to help low-income persons rent apartments other than apartments in public housing developments." Read more here: https://www.mass.gov/rental-assistance-programs
