It’s a small park for hanging out if you’re on a lunch break or just want to relax. There’s a small pond in the middle of it and benches all around. I stopped by one day with my dog in one of our long walks in uni city. ☺️

Beautiful botanical garden with butterflies, turtles and birds! The small waterfall by the pond is relaxing.

Shady secret oasis on the U Penn campus with a waterfall and a historic biopond dating back to the 1890's as a research site for the university. The park is tricky to find. We overshot it twice even using apps. It's tucked behind the Lynch Laboratory building. Insider tip -- though there is no free parking there, you can park at nearby Woodlands Cemetery by the side of the driving loop inside and walk to this park. We spotted lots of turtles, birds and a wide variety of native plantings. There's a small event space you can rent as well.

This place is beautiful. It is secluded, and has wooden picnic tables you can sit and have lunch at. The pond has dozens of turtles, a mini waterfall, koi fish, and so many trees. Good for relaxing, taking the kids, or having lunch.

James Kaskey was the son of Richard and Jeanne Kaskey and attended the University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree. His parents made a generous gift in 2001 in his memory after is passing. This endowment allowed for the remodeling and updating of the pond as well as provides annual funding to maintain and better the park.
Unfortunately we do not offer parking at Kaskey Park, however we are conviently located between the 40th street trolley portal, and the 37th street and south trolley stop as well as several bus lines. There is also metered street parking in the area.
We are the original botanic garden for the University of Pennsylvania. We invite everyone to come stroll through our gardens as well as all of Penn's campus. We are free and open to the public seven days a week sunrise to sunset.
