Peace River Park - City of Wauchula

Great park. They let people live there for free. So that's cool. The trails are not marked so bring your phone with GPS. The river has some large gators that you can see sometimes. It's jammin' with wildlife. We've seen deer, bunnies, snakes, turtles, gators, razorback hogs, a giant bull was there once. My dog made friends with it. Also have owls, squirrels, woodpeckers of different varieties and more.

I'm a School Bus Driver for the Hardee County School Board. For this month (June) I'm driving students for summer school. As it happens, my route takes me along Peace River Park. I, personally, have not visited this Park but a number of my student riders have talked about it and how much they like it. A few years ago the city of Wauchula went all out with civil engineering, contractors, landscaping and really made improvements to the park. Now it looks clean, beautiful, "crisp" and inviting with ample parking and easy for boaters to access Peace River. All in all a really nice place for the family to hang out. Oh, I also want to mention there's a nice sidewalk with benches around the perimeter of the park for those who want to take advantage and go for a walk 😉

Nice park with peace river over look. Easy walking path with a couple of bridges. Well maintained. Free camping -primitive only.

My wife and I along with our two goldens spent about 2 hours walking here today. Nice trails and the overlook at the river was nice. Only complaint is about the lack of trail signs. We were on our third try to get back to the parking lot. We successfully made it and the dogs were happy to have water and snacks at the car. We will go again!!
