Very beautiful place. I walked for about an hour and a half. I had two issues overall. One; The way you pay to get in is very weird. Its $4 for a car and $2 for a walk on, but I dont understand how they can tell if you just take the envelope? Might need to invest in a machine, would make it easier to pay. My second reason would be that the place doesnt seem to be taking care of some parts of the trail. Some are very well maintained, and some are less so. Still very enjoyable and quiet, barely anyone there. You can rent kayaks but I dont know the price.

Such an amazing landscape at this park. The running springs are absolutely beautiful and, in places, look completely untouched by human hands. The trails are full of palms and palmettos that are teaming with wild life. The ambiance here creates an overwhelming sense of peace and serenity. Always pack out what you pack in, so others can enjoy it as much as you.

I've been back multiple times, so pretty. $2 parking. Nice observation deck with restrooms that are handicap accessible. I use AllTrails app to make sure I make the correct turns. Paddling through mangroves is special. It is easy, not dangerous, very relaxing. Rent one there or bring your own. It's fun to watch the mullets jump and a variety of birds around. Most of the time you can see the bottom, it is shallow. Some educational and historical highlights add even more interest. I'll be back.

Why would someone tell someone that it's ok to swim with snakes and alligators?
Yes. Dogs are allowed in the park. If you own the kayak, you can put your dog on it.
Florida State Parks are not tax supported and are funded by entrance/user fees. An entry fee is required, whether you’re parking or using the trails. Like other posters have stated, you can purchase a pass. It’s $60 for an individual pass that just gets you in or $120 for a family pass. This gets you and everyone in the car in to all state parks. There’s a discount if you’re a vet and if you have a service connected disability the pass is free. YOU DON’T GET IN FOR FREE FOR HAVING A DISABLED PLACARD.
No but there's fishers corner and a stream to fish in as well as kayaks you can rent and fish out of. Good fishing here too!
There are no paved or wooden plank paths and if you go in the rainy season you might find it difficult in a couple if spots.
Yes! Oh my goodness, yes. They have them spread out on trails to the north of the parking lot. It's beautiful! Take some insect repellent during this time of the year, which I use "Repel". It works very well and is made of essential oils and other natural ingredients -- lemon grass, eucalyptus . . . There are some background noises from the nearby urban area, but this does not take away from this truly State gym and it is an enclave of a remarkable environmental habitats! Enjoy and relax!
Definitely! You can take your own kayak or they offer rentals as well. We have caught a few off shore but had a better catch further out, Snook, Mullet, snapper. Could not ask for a more relaxing time on the open waters. Happy Fishing my friend!
You can fish from land there are spots all over the trails
Yes....there is a place to launch. You can also rent there. Didn't see any gators....but went out in the bay... beautiful place to kayak
Dogs ok on a leash and cleanup after them
The Launch is right off the 2nd parking lot.
It depends on the weather and tides obviously but it typically takes our renters between 45 minutes to an hour.
Yes
Yes! There is a great spot called Fishers Corner out on the nature trail. Or you can rent a kayak or canoe from Salty Dog Kayak Rentals. Our canoes have rod holders and mushroom anchors!
Absolutely! It's a great place. Watch out for gators and no off leash! Have fun.
Not a lot of road but there is handicap parking and ramps. Some nice shady spots with picnic tables not far from parking. Starkey park has more paved driving areas.
No
Yes! Salty dogs. https://www.saltydogkayakrentals.com/our-location
I have the park stamp at the Salty Dog Kayak Rentals tiki hut in the second parking lot!
I believe it is free if you have your own kayak. You pay park entrance fee only.
No, it is not allowed. This is really just hiking trails.
You can purchase a Florida State Parks pass good for any state park in Florida.
No
No definitely not, they have gator postings alongside the park. The water is not clear at all, better suited for fishing and kayaking!
Not at the boat ramp or within the park. Says swimming is available outside the park.

I'm an avid kayaker. I have kayaked for years around alligators, some nearly as big as my boat (12.5). Just paddle on ahead, don't touch them. If they follow you a bit just keep steering slightly away from them in the same direction you were already going. When you leave their territory, they'll turn around. Always poke the bottom all around you before stepping out of your boat for any reason in the shallows.
Im pretty sure I've seen signs for no swimming. You might want to contact the park directly.
I think the rentals are 3 hrs or all day, and they do have some tandem kayaks. But we took our own kayaks, so I don't remember the cost, sorry.
No cabins, this is a brand new park, and it's pretty much still being added on too, with picnic tables, walking paths etc.
You just put the money in the envelope and put in the hole. It's an honor system. Have fun.
