This place is a joke, I live in a place where I have black mold. The landlord does nothing about it. I try to get some help with the Housing Authority called and emailed and got nothing back. You are a worthless tool. I hope the state cuts your funding.

I've left message after message. Fast forward a month and no one has returned my call. My father is already on section 8 and needs to relocate because of health issues. His worker Sherily Simmons apparently doesn't know how to return phones calls. It's obviously they could care less and just collect a paycheck. * Update 2022 * My dad is moving back to Ohio Thank God! I will be so happy not to have to try and deal with this office ever again. Still can never get a hold of anyone. Once you drop off paperwork that's it. You're on their time, whenever the fell like getting back to you they will. Been 2 months since we did a out of state transfer. No letters,No contact! Covid isn't excuse now cause they have always been this way. Maybe if they just let people know what's going they wouldn't keep having thousands of calls/emails. Somebody should do something about that office. They way it's run is horrible! They should take notes from Lake County Metropolitan Housing Authority in Painesville,Ohio on how to run an office.

This is the first time dealing with Lakeland housing authority and the only person that actually does their job and responds right away to my emails is a portability specialist. My caseworker I spoke to her twice on the phone in a month. The owner and I sent her numerous emails and she doesn't respond back. Then claims she didn't receive emails from the owner that I was attached to and if I got the same email she should have got it as well. Instead of saying everything that was needed by the owner she waits days later saying she doesn't get this or that. I have proof that she received documents all documents to the owner. I have forwarded the proof to a portability specialist who is very helpful and makes sure she gets it but she still takes forever to get back to me or the owner of the property I found and that is very unacceptable. I just paid the deposit on this apt and they only do inspections in Fridays. She doesn't even keep me or the owner updated if she received all the documents and let us know that she sent the documents to the dept that takes over and contacts the owner so they can do the inspection. That is very unprofessional. When I was up north I never had this problem. Section 8 in NJ are more on point. Lakeland housing authority needs to step up their game in helping and get the ball rolling. Not everyone on section 8 are trash or underneath section 8 workers. I worked my whole life and wasn't raised in a ghetto neighborhood even though I lived in one up north before I came here to Florida. My husband is a Army Veteran and we both deserve respect as everyone else does...

It's best to take your information into the office to get it time stamped always.
Really I don't know, however its difficult to get a place here in polk county. I wish you the best Milly Perez. Now it could be different for you since you'll be transferring, but just hope for the best.
There is not an exact amount of time. Everything depends on the funding. Last time applications were available was on 2016. People that applied back then are still on the waitlist. If you have any other questions, you can contact the office at 8636872911.
When they take people off the waiting list, they don't do it all at once. It all depends on the funds received plus there are too many people to do that. If you are on the public housing waiting list, you can call and see your position. If it is section 8, no positions are assigned on the list. Make sure to always keep your contact information up to date.

At the moment the waiting list are closed. If the application were available, she would have to get them in the office because it's required to present social security card and ID.
