White Sands sober living and IOP in Sarasota are excellent for gaining and maintaining one’s own sobriety. The sober living house is an environment that promotes independence while demanding accountability to one’s self and to others in a sober environment. Independence and accountability promote growth in personal responsibility, recognizing one’s own flawed thinking leading to harmful behavior. The expectation in White Sands sober living is that each individual makes better decisions with an understanding that each individual understands his/her own responsibility for his/her behaviors and sobriety. White Sands sober living utilizes multiple sober enhancing tools and events to aid in an individual’s maintenance of that individual’s sobriety. White Sands Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) (3 hours by 3 days per week) creates a permissive and safe environment in a private group setting with a lead counselor. The program promotes honesty and comradeship as individuals learn they have similar stories to one another. The group generates a humble bond and trust among all members of the group. This dynamic familiarity engenders the courage to process negative thoughts, ongoing struggles, emotions, and any desire to use, leading to relapse. I have been to two other treatment centers and neither of them were as nice as White Sands. Everyone from the techs to the case managers treated me with respect and they made me feel very welcome. My therapist helped me address some issues that I have never looked at before. And the amenities were great! The pool was cool and relaxing and the gym was a great place for me to start working on my physical health. My case manager helped me make a smooth transition into outpatient groups. My whole experience with White Sands was amazing!
