We had a great time. I especially enjoyed the walk down to the meadow and the video presentation. I just wish I had a zoom lens.

Elk Country Visitor Center really delivered. Heard a bull elk bugle many times early afternoon in the distance but not able to see him. Decided to go grab a bite to eat and return closer to dusk and sure enough they were out grazing, approximately 51 of them with one huge bull. Very very pleased with our trip and decision to come here!

This place is great! Part of my yearly trip with kids! Love the exhibits and love the area period!

Awesome place! Love the history about the Elk. If you are lucky enough to be there late afternoon checkout the live Elk coming out of the forest!

U have to call that morning to the visitor center at 8 to see about rides
Have you tried calling their office and ask or visit their website . Facebook page.
Don't go in the middle of the day. Best time is about 1 1/2 hours before sundown.
I just called - they picked up - 9am - 5pm Friday and Saturday this week after Thanksgiving.
I think 4. But make sure you make reservations a couple days ahead of time.
Usually they're most active in the fall-- the exact month is hard to pin down because their periods of greatest activity cycle in a course of a few weeks depending on the start of the cool weather. If you call the center they can often give you an idea of when during the rut they're expecting the most activity, and that gives you a good chance of seeing the bulls out and bugling.
