Schaefer's is worth every penny you spend there. Food is excellent. Variety of drinks available. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Didn't have to wait long for our order. Highly recommend it for a special occasion. Can't beat the scenery either!

My family and I visited Schaefer’s Canal House for my mother’s 60th birthday. We normally go in the spring and summer to sit out on the deck but the winter time is just as nice. We went on a Tuesday, which was comfort food night and we ordered Chicken Parmigiana. It was outstanding. It was good portion size and reasonably priced. Our waitress, Erin was very nice and checked on us several times. My husband and mother had dessert which was plated nicely. Definitely a nice evening and will be back soon.

August 2021 Came here for dinner and the food was very good. Note they have increased prices due to supply issues. The staff were friendly, but the service was a bit slow. It looked like they were understaffed. We were seated outside on the upper veranda, and I recommend sunscreen if you're seated at the edge where you're not shaded from the sun. Also, a great downpour arrived as we were finishing (it was truly spectacular and I wish I had filmed it) and though no one was drenched, those seated right at the edge did get a little splashed. Note the tables were not 6ft apart. We ordered the Panko Oysters, C&D Jambalaya, Grilled Salmon, and a mango smoothie. The smoothie was pretty disappointing, being mainly ice with little flavor. The oysters, jambalaya, and salmon all had generous portions of fresh seafood. They were all very delicious, moist, and tender. Only the jambalaya had too much spice (or not enough rice). Interestingly, the salmon was served without its skin. As someone who likes the salmon skin, I found this disappointing. The salads that came with the entrees were good with fresh, crisp veggies. Would most likely come again.

Schaefers....my dad kept a home made cabin cruiser (a 28' double-ended whale boat with as cabin built on it) at what was once Borger's (in the 1950's)...that marina across from Schaefers. I live in Maine now but just visited that area and ate at Schaefers twice (crab cakes). JeffP of Maine Saturday April 6, 2019...3 weeks ago the outside deck was still under construction....looked like a big/extensive project! Will have residence down that way soon
I suspect that they have become like everyone else: They don't like to do the phone thang!
I believe they do but if not can go to opposite side of canal to get at Chesepeak Inn, or down canal East & on your L there's a marina to get it. Also The Grain resturant is there.

From my expweience their customer service leaves much to be desired. When we went the air conditioner broke and they didnt bother to even mention it to the customers or appologise. When i wrote them a less than favorable review the response was "we had a repair guy their within 2 hours". They also said if I wanted to escalate I could call the owner the next day. I'm not surprised by your experience and would be shocked if their "manager" even cared.
Sunday brunch begins at 10am ro 2pm on Sunday with a full menu available also.
