Station is served by Amtrak Coast Starlight (north to Seattle, south to LA) and Amtrak California to Sacramento. Caltrain also runs a commuter service up the peninsula to San Francisco. The local VTA runs buses and a light rail line from this station. Amtrak also runs a bus service over the Santa Cruz mountains to the city of Santa Cruz. It is next to the city's arena. For the tenth largest city in the US, the station is small and underwhelming compared with other Amtrak downtown location, but the station is clean and the building is historical. There is a small kiosk selling snacks, magazines, newspapers, and train souvenirs. Amtrak Coast Starlight's schedule has been reduced to three times a week due to Covid (9/2020), so double check before booking. Southbound usually arrives just before 10:00 AM, and the northbound arrives around 8:30 PM.

And actual train station in San Jose. It also is a bus plaza. There is paid parking in the front of the station. You can take, Amtrak, Greyhound,VTA, etc... It's all here. The station dates from 1935 and it is small compared to other stations in major cities. However, it i clean and has a snack/news shop an clean bathrooms. The architecture is cool and there are historical displays in cases, which you will find very interesting information about the Ohlone people, and transportation history of the region. The seating and waiting area is nice and relaxed. You might see some people who may be in need of a buck or some change for a meal, helping out will make you feel good.

I have been taking the Caltrain for over a year now. Overall their service is great. I usually take the bullet or the limited service and they are always on time. There are only a handful that i can remember the train was delayed due to mechanical problems, this is in the morning train. In the afternoon? Might be a different story... Parking is cheaper on the street. I don't often drive since i take the bus but occasionally when i do finding a parking before 7am is easy. Now after 7? Well good luck... just come early. Meter parking also hasn't changed. Still $4 from last year. Hopefully it won't increase yet.

Maybe .. I don't see why not. Let me know if I can be of any other help
Hotels all around. People also camp at the station. Your pick.
You must purchase your ticket from Caltrain ticket machines
I would arrive at least 45 mins early but dont count on the trains being on time either. If you get a ticket online signup for the alerts or get the mobile app to keep up to date. At one time my train was a hour and thirty late. App kept me up to date.
It's $6 per day. The parking lots are all open-air surface lots that anyone can access. I've never had any problems parking my car there, but I wouldn't classify the lots as "protected"
I'm Not Sure About A SAFEWAY, But, There's A WHOLE FOOD'S Within Walking Distance Of DIRIDON:)
Yes all transportation venues are there greyhound, caltrans, amtrack and all very close
I have question? Is there a phone number to call?
Lawrence Millstein, at present, there are no Bart stations that go into downtown San Jose. There is a Bart station constructed next to the Berryessa Flea Market (Berryessa Station). However, I don't know if this is up and running, as of yet. It was suppose to start in 2019, but now they're saying it will open sometime in 2020. The bus and light rail routes (Berryessa Transit Center), opened a few months ago on December, 28, 2019, and is up and running, to support the Bart once it's open... YOUR BEST BET ON SATURDAY'S is to take the CalTrain at Diridon Station in San Jose to catch the Bart at Millbrae (if that's where you're headed). *Because of the WEEKEND CLOSURE of Services to SF, from Feb, 22 - Mar,29, 2020. If you're trying to get to San Francisco on a Saturday's, you'll have to take the Caltrain and get off at Bayshore. There will be FREE Sam Trans buses available to take you into San Francisco. The first Caltrain for Saturday's leaves at 7:08a, 8:38a, 9:51a etc., etc

There are rarely taxis at the station anymore. You are probably best off ordering an Uber or Lyft.
Ticket was bought online and it doesn't say which track
Not exactly at the station but there are Enterprise and Hertz rental cars walking distance near by.
Yes you can buy a tickets on site. There are multiple machines to use either debit card or cash. Make sure you take your ticket with you.
I take Caltrain and they are ok with small dogs. You are talking about Amtrak so I do not know.
Yes. In addition to water, you can bring beer, wine, and liquor on the train (both Amtrak and Caltrain) but do remember the conductors can eject you if you become a nuisance.
