Very unique layout. Very clean restrooms, and main room of welcome center. Very large, well maintained playground. All picnic tables covered for shade. Very unique artwork around the entire area.

Really interesting. It shows the timelines of the great earthquakes on the New Madrid fault in Missouri back in 1811 that even caused the Mississippi to flow backwards. Nice playground and picnic areas.

Very nice rest area with multiple pictures showing earthquake info for Missouri. Restrooms are good as well.

It could be that it's under maintenance
It's a state owned rest area. One could probably address the phone issue with the Missouri Dot as for vending machines I believe they are contracted through a private company and the company information is usually on the machine itself
