Great selection and very knowledgeable staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Their soils work fantastic. We got a truckload of garden bed soil and our plants have done fantastic. They also carry a great selection of herb and vegetable starts. So much better than ordering online or from big box hardware stores.

I was in Nashville for a conference and couldn't pass up going to a local nursery. Bates did not disappoint. I walked out with about a half a dozen types of mint, they are all super healthy and happy. The prices for most perennials and annuals were very reasonable. I was interested in some fruit bushes/trees, the prices for these were a little higher than in my home location. They all looked amazing and had some varieties I hadn't seen before. I ended up not getting them due to my long road trip home. Although I don't live in the area, if I find myself in Nashville again I will certainly go by Bates nursery.

Great place but never again on a weekend. So very crowed. Nothing against the management though. Seemed they were doing all the could to help with parking and keeping check out lines moving. I just would enjoy it more on a less busy day. 5 stars though

My first contact was to call them and ask if they have two kinds of plants I was looking for that no one else had. The woman was very nice and knowledgable and located the plants, told me how many they had in stock and what varieties. I was amazed! That is customer service you don't see or expect these days. I drove there and it was so huge I was overwhelmed, in a good way. I flagged down a worker to see where the plants were located, she walked me right to the plant section and helped me find the best plant, This was a 10+ expercience. I could not be happier to have found a place like Bates, and it is family owned which is a bonus. Prices were very fair and below many other nurseries, plants were healthy and well cared for. Kudos to Bates for a business well run!
