This is a pretty short and easy trail with a BUNCH of viewpoints along the way of some really cool rock formations. The main view is just breathtaking- pictures really don't do it justice. We spent about an hour exploring the park but you can spend as much or as little time as you want. Nicely maintained trail throughout with a few benches along the way if needed

My family loves GOG it's a beautiful and very unique place, we have had many awesome times there and the observation trail alone is worth the trip. But there are many other awesome trails very close by as well as throughout the rest of Shawnee National Forest.

Wr took our dogs here and absolutely loved all the amazing views. The dogs loved sniffing everything. This is a pretty easy walk unless you're being pulled by a 7 month old lab mix.

I made this my test stop as I was driving through the area and I am so thankful I did! This is an extremely beautiful area with stunning views! You wouldn’t believe you’re in Illinois honestly lol. The paths take you deep into the canyons or on top of them, depending on your starting point! Obviously be careful here! But, you can clamber out onto the rocks as well, a beautiful spot for meditation and grounding :) The views are truly spectacular, the photos don’t do it justice! Check it out for yourself! It’s free to go and a must see!

Yes their are spots but I highly recommend that you bring water and snacks just in case
They would be fine as long as you keep a close eye on them! It can get a little steep, but they would love it!
I have had 9 back surgeries 2 heart attacks left hip replaced and a mild stroke and still walk those trails every time I am in Southern Illinois !! Very beautiful and easy walking.
Yes there is a trail thats more for people that are handicapped. You might not be able to go to certain areas depending on your or persons with limitations.
There are other access sites in the area but not in the Garden of the Gods itself.
Most certainly but be aware of the conditions overnight! Some parts are windier and have lower temperature chills than what the forecast says. I went out last November and forecast said 24° F but the wind chill was my rookie mistake in not being better prepared! Lol. Safe camping!
Yes and the campground is beautiful. NO HORSES
