Fun, mind the bees and bugs, lots of people, but amazing opportunity for stunning photos. Thanks for planting all these beautiful flowers and helping the bees!

Stopped in for a hike of a now non-existent trail which was lots of fun and glad I did it in the winter as I ended up doing a lot of bush whacking.

Beautiful sunflowers! But the bees are EVERYWHERE! One got stuck in my hair and down my back I had to take off my shirt to get it out. The dirt roads are fine if people learned how to drive slowly/ courteously on them. People were kicking up rocks passing us.

By mid-late August the sunflowers are shrunken and dying, so go May- July for those. Our Modoc website could be a bit more accurate and detailed in regards to the Columbia Bottoms- even listed as closed on Google during a Tuesday during daylight hours. It was a beautiful area. Wish we would've known to come earlier for the sunflowers. August is likely too late even though the website says May-Nov. Go earlier in the season.

it If you have a boat and they do allow fishing only from the bank all night... fishing only. You may be locked in some nights though, I've been fishing and photographing here almost 20 years now. It was decimated by floods this season. If you travel up Mo 79 north some of the largest tracts of flood plain lands have been reclaimed into conservation areas that make Columbia Bottoms small in comparison, and better fishing. Trouble is that some people leave all their trash on the banks like the maids will get in the morning?
Yes. A good quality, extra wide, concrete boat ramp.
All summer, various stages of plots were planted to allow for a long bloom. I'd say it is peak with only a few plots left to mature
As of 7/9/21 yes they are. I believe MDC staggered the plantings so that there will be different fields blooming throughout the summer.
Yes, only closed for flooding
Usually in mid summer. However, because the place has been underwater for many months I'm not sure they will get planted this year. Still worth hoping!
No. Such a pretty place, but you will need to wash your car after being on the gravel roads.
