Beautiful hike in the redwoods. Not as heavily trafficed as you would think. The sound of water stream, beautiful ferns and the fresh smell of redwoods make for a real rejuvenating experience.

One of three trail heads for navigating the network of trails surrounding the Purisima Creek. There are trails for horses, biking and hiking. The Craig Britton trail is a hiking only trail connecting the north and south trails. With over 2500 feet in elevation gain from one end to the other I would classify this as a moderate trail. Each of the three parking lots are small and fill up quickly leaving excess parking to tight spots alongside the roads. The trail alongside Purisima Creek is mostly flat with plenty of spots to walk down to the creek for a picnic or beautiful pictures. The trail has a thick canopy and is covered in shade most of the day. The ridge trail to the north is very steep in some sections and mostly exposed to the sun. I created an 11 mile loop by combining the Purisima Creek trail with the Craig Britton and the ridge trail to the north. Set aside 4-5 hours to hike this stretch of trails.

Easy hike along a babbling creek with many beautiful redwoods to enjoy. Cool wildlife to see on your walk through.

Great TH during the week, gets ridiculous on weekends though. Cool trail along the creek leading to trails heading further up into the preserve
