Picnic areas seem nice and shaded for the most part. Hiking trails well maintained. There was some decent views and beauty, I'll hike longer next time. Not really worth the entry fee to hike. Park at the next hiking trail head for free parking

I am utterly TERRIFIED of heights but that does not affect at all this review would be a 5 star review if the mountains had more "restrooms" "better sanitation" and more "Updated safety" "signs and fences" but other than that this is a great place to visit for a few photos of the whole city of San jose👍

It is a perfect escape into the nature. The views are beyond words. We took hotel trail from the parking and then joined into Yerba Buena Trail. The trail is moderately difficult mainly due to steep slopes. We are not regular hikers but we could do it so I think anyone could do it. Just make sure you carry enough water. We hiked during January and hence the weather was just perfect. Warm sun in winter. The parking is 6$ like all the county parks. The views from top is beautiful. We also saw lots of woodpeckers. I recently went here for a camping trip and it was very fun. The bugs here are not too bad, not many mosquitoes, but there were quite a few wasps. Fires are ok here but be careful because during the summer the grass is very dry and flammable. There were lots of flat places to put tents, but depending on what site you pick there is not lots of shade. There is a big paved hill connecting the campsites which is great for riding down on scooters or bikes. Also the views are great and there are great hikes. One place I recommend you go to if you are camping here is the lake nearby. During the summer it is very hot here so be sure to pack shorts. I would recommend this as a great camping place not too far from San Jose!

Its 30 dollars a night someone let me know how to stay for 10$?
Yes they have some first come first serve.
There is a trail nesr the small lake thst is a good 5 mile hike uo the hill towards mount hamilton. The campsites are just normal campsites with parking lots basically drive ins. I dont believe there is a backpacking trail campsite. Ive camp there before
If you pay for a campsite, yes. Each campsite allows 2 vehicles to park near it.
Tent/Car campsites:$34, walkin campsites:$18, unimproved campsite: $15, extra vehicle:$10, as of Jan 29 2018. 25% discount for off season on all rates b/w 1st nov and 1 march
I would say very good!
Yes, we saw campers there on 10/4/20.
;-; I really want to help but I dont understand your question
They should open a season on the wild pigs. They're tearing up the whole place and can be a danger to people.
Depends on your provider...verizon works for the most part
Yes, there are shower facilities located in the Halls Valley Campground Area: Spots 6-9 are really close to the showers, although you will get a lot of traffic from other campers trying to access the showers. I like to camp away from the showers, and walk nice and early, when it's not in use. There is running water near campsites: 2/3, 6, 11/13, 15/16, 18, + 19/20, 21 + 22. There are also showers at the Snell Campground near spot 24. Water runs near spots: 23, 24, 27/29, 30, + 38. If you bring your own camping shower, running water is all you need.
Not idea
Yes, it has pit and barbecue. Charcoal is allowed. You may want to call the office on firewood. Have not seen anyone use that
I didnot see a sign prohibiting this activity
Yes at the campground and with reservation. Length is limited, so you may want to check on the website.
The local astronomy club, Halls Valley Astronomical Group, holds a monthly star party there, usually the first Saturday after a new moon. www.hallsvalley.org
No wifi, no cellular. Part of the charm of the place.
The ranger does have firewood for sale.
Yes
I believe it's 6 bucks for day use.
