The Alexan staff were great in my book - always response and very accommodating for my needs. The building is actually very nice, with great amenities and easy access to many parts of LA you'd enjoy. My challenges with the space have nothing to do with the management team, and everything to do with what they had inherited (a previous management company designed and developed it, and were replaced a couple months after my move-in). There are a few quirky design flaws that are at worst a minor inconvenience. One other reviewer did mention the bike zone being insecure, but if you ask me there is a certain amount of common sense that the original architects should have had as well as anyone with an expensive bike: don't give the bike storage it's own exit to the street, or don't store an enviable bike in an area that could be propped open and accessible by strangers. The management team made it very clear when they found out about the issue that nobody should keep their bikes there, and eventually did work that lead to the arrest of one of the thieves (including staffing security that they didn't have as commonly before). For the value you get with brand new luxury apartments, great amenities, turnkey access to everything on move-in: I think this place is a steal. I moved out primarily as I have a larger dog and having a yard and some more space was better for us (but you can believe we are paying a high monetary cost for it). The neighborhood isn't quiet, but you definitely get used to it - part of living close to DTLA. As with everything, there are trade offs - just make sure living in a central city location is right for you. Hope this is helpful!

Tyler gave me a tour and he was AMAZING. As someone who is in the industry and just moved out here, he made me feel welcomed and was so professional and sharp. I toured about 7 other buildings and no one had the knowledge and personality that Tyler did. Also he was the only person to follow back up with me. I cant say enough great things about Tyler. I recommend the building and Tyler if you are looking for a place. 10/10

Budget friendly for the area and proximity to neighboring areas like Echo Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, and DTLA. See the PROS and CONS list below. If security is really important to you, you probably won't feel safe here. PROS: - Management is professional and nice - Newer gym w/ clean equipment - Updated kitchens w/ nice cabinetry - Amenities are upscale - Tenants are friendly - Cheaper housing than neighboring areas - Pet friendly - Food trucks outside every Tuesday NEUTRALS: - Family friendly - Food trucks unhealthy CONS: - Lack of security - Located in a rough neighborhood w/ high crime rate - Disruptions every other week (people yelling outside, packages being stolen, soliciting, and bikes being stolen) Like I said before, the price is right and it really boils down to whether you prefer a high-end looking apartment over security. Within my first two months of living here, I've had two bikes stolen, had random people knocking at my door asking for money, and have been confronted by random homeless people in the building's parking garage. Hope this helps. It'd definitely be a solid 5/5 if the CONS weren't a common experience living here.

REVISED REVIEW: We struggled revising our review of the building but circumstances have reached a point where we feel like it would be irresponsible for us to continue to endorse a management team, who are very nice people, but sadly have not lived up to the standards they set during the initial few months we lived there. It's a still a beautiful building and most of the tenants are great. However, there have been red flags all over the place such as: 1. Suddenly charging tenants to use the very amenities in the building that we are paying rent in. When we moved in, we could reserve with out a problem. Now anytime it's over four people it's $$$. 2. They changed security companies to save money and now it takes security, an hour, yes, you heard that right, AN HOUR, to respond to anything. When confronted with this, management continues to either disregard or out right deny that this is the case. Would you really want to risk it? 3. And I think this is the one that is most disappointing: Management deals with numerous noise, or any complaints really, from numerous tenants by doing... well, I don't know. Maybe they write an email? Nothing changes and to be honest, I think we've resigned ourselves to the fact that it never will. Which really is a shame. So to that, we cannot recommend living here in good conscience until there is a change in management. I'm sure the nice customer service lady SRG will respond to this review by saying how much they care and to reach out to them, but we promise you we have, numerous times, they don't care and no changes will be made. Nice, but incompetent. I've kept the original review below because seriously, they are nice people. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We have never been happier. We love the building, the tenants, the amenities and most importantly, the management. Jefferey, Shannon, Lizzie and everyone else on the Alexan Bahay team have been kind, accommodating, responsive and most importantly, great at their jobs! The maintenance department is also amazing, everything is done through an app and they respond in less than 24 hours. The amenities including the gym are spacious and beautiful; they make you feel like you’re living in some sort of five star resort. Our neighbors have been welcoming and you can’t beat the location. Move here, it’ll be the best decision you’ve made in a long time.
