I went to ER , I had a ct scan with contrast /dye , and was NOT told to not take my metformin for 48 hours …I asked the nurse in ER ( John ) he didn’t know … if they were not going to admit me , why did they hey do it … ? I have to o go home now and NO meds for 2 days … if they would have admitted me at least they would’ve given me insulin… I just don’t understand the way they work… I thought more of this than place … very disappointed 😢

I delivered my Daughter on 7/26/22 & I want to say the labor & delivery/postpartum staff was EVERYTHING!! they’re so sweet and attentive! I am so grateful for each and everyone I had a reaction with!!! Only negative was the housekeeping. I asked for housekeeping to come clean up the restroom and empty all trash cans, it took them 24hrs to finally come & at that point, I was pretty much getting discharged. Other then that. I had a great experience. Rooms are big and beautiful also!

First, it must be said that there are some amazing healthcare professionals in the L+D and Postpartum units who deserve thanks and gratitude. Truly some of the most caring and kind individuals you will ever meet work here and I am grateful to them. That said, this review is about terrible management policy in light of a mistake made by Providence St. John’s staff. I had COVID 45 days prior to entering the labor unit and when admitted, our exposure date was recorded wrong and we were “mistakenly” tested for COVID (which can show up as positive on a PCR test months later). The intake nurse apologized and tried to reverse course and get an exception after realizing the test was wrongly administered but several other nurses started yelling that “it doesn’t matter, it’s a positive test” so we needed to isolate. They said they typically don’t test recently exposed people and apologized before procedurally sending us to the “COVID room”. There was no chance we were contagious per CDC guidance, yet were treated like Patient Zero throughout several days at the hospital. While I typically roll with these types of scenarios and respect protocol and the challenges hospital staff are facing, their solution was an extremely stressful environment to give birth in to the point where we were contemplating discharging. The medical professionals in our lives were in total disbelief as we explained what was going on throughout our stay. The birthing room had a ventilation fan that sounded like a jet engine - over 70 dB and loud to the point where the nurses told us not to use our call button and to instead use cell phones because they couldn’t hear us. Trying to sleep was futile. When I begged to turn the fan down - at least overnight when others weren’t in the room, I received a brash answer from the shift manager about COVID particles (??) with zero empathy for the situation. As it turns out, the fan did have settings on it and could have been turned down as was in the postpartum room. Ridiculous. At one point I stepped out at the explicit instruction of our nurse to hand off a medical kit and was so rudely berated by one of the desk people for leaving my room instead of asking what the situation was (as if anyone would want to be wandering the halls at this hot mess of a place for their own enjoyment???). The DMV feels like a Ritz-Carlton by comparison. They did not allow visitors including the child’s biological father. Could not get out of there fast enough. While there is no recourse for reviews like these in our healthcare system, I want to warn anyone giving birth here.

Nah the ER was a mess,, if y’all can try to make the extra 10 mins to UCLA do it. Couldn’t even give me a splint for my fractured finger and no aftercare instructions. But they did leave me the bottom of the barrel medical tape they used on me! Not enough to wrap around my knuckle tho<3 Went to different urgent care facility, they told me I needed a support for my injury and actually rolled their eyes when I mention this place for my initial visit. Seems like they have a type reputation. Never again :/ didn’t even have my information or at least tried look up my information when I asked for my medical record. Trash

Yes! St. John's is LA County's first Joint Commission certified Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center.
It is imperative that patient and families not be pushed aside and not treated with the respect they deserve as staff demand their respect. If no patients entered the doors their would be no need for those on the inside of the doors. patients do have options
I really don't know.
Please call them directly
