All regular sites are no good for tent camping. Small, not flat and mostly rocks. They have four walk in sites that seem nice but we did not use as were booked. Vault toilets had no working lights.

First time camping here at KETTLE MORAINE STATE FOREST – SOUTHERN UNIT- WHITEWATER LAKE CAMPGROUND. We stayed here over this last Memorial Day weekend. 3-day reservation required during holiday stays in any Wisconsin state park. Grass on site was super long! Any avid camper knows how much of a pain in the rear this can be. Seriously! Paying customers deserve the grass to be mowed reasonably in a fully booked campground before a Memorial Day holiday weekend? Bathrooms where in horrible condition all around from the get go, worst I've seen in any State Park yet even had feces in the stand up uranal. Lights did not work at all. How is a handicapped individual or a parent with small children supposed to deal with unsanitary facilities like that in the dark? There where many campers with dogs which is fine, we are dog lovers, but when many individuals dont abide by the leash law and let dogs run out of a campsite unleashed its unaceptable and dangerous. The only reason I am writing this review is because when I brought the issues up about the bathrooms and leashes to the Camp Host at our campground, said person replied quote "I just sell wood and ice and call the police if I have too, I sure got a great gig here" and the personnel at the check in station said thanks for letting us know we'll look into it. That said, there was absolutely no attempt to remedy any of the situations for the three days we camped. I am very disappointed as a State of Wisconsin tax payer over this stay. I am an avid State Park user. Every year we buy a annual park sticker, hunting and fishing licences and continue to pay the State of Wisconsin's ever increasing camping and recreational fees. Unacceptable!

Writing as a touring cyclist. East loop has a number of campsites with partial, if not full, shade. Vaulted restrooms. Water was great quality. Noise from vehicles, while not terribly bothersome, was more noticeable along the campsites closer to Hi-Lo Road.

Our site was nice, and the camp host was AMAZING! We knew it was a rustic campground going in, but by the end, we were ready for a shower and were done tromping through piles of millipedes in the bathroom. Pit toilets needed emptying, but if the wind was blowing in the right direction, they were tolerable. We would considering going back, but we have other campgrounds we would like to visit first.

Do you have to reserve a spot to camp or can you show up and pay there

If you want to camp at the campground down the road, it's a State of WI park - Kettle Moraine Southern Unit. You can either reserve online or at the office just make sure you're there during office hours. I'm not sure they have a way for you to check in after hours if you haven't reserved.

Assume all campgrounds in northern United States to be open between labor day and memorial day and closed the rest of the season. In Wisconsin, we get a lot of cold weather and snow during the winter. Which can be hazardous to campers.
