Stayed here a few times and love this area complete with nice showers and restrooms.

Great camping spaces. The showers are good for a campground (the water is warm!). Be prepared for a bit of a hike to the South Shore beach, though.

This is the best respite ever. Nature abounds. When humans relax and remember we are in mother nature's home. Snakes, raccoons, possums...spiders....all trying to coexist with us trampling on their natural habitats. Fish galore. Clear lake. Way too many humans trampling down this gorgeous place. Take your time and enjoy it all. Fishing, boating, hiking, picnic...just remember we are just visiting...carry in, carry out. If you are camping, this is not a place you'll get a mint on your pillow and your sheets turned down. You need to KNOW a little about 🏕. Bugs, critters and oh my! even raccoons and *gasp* wood ticks. 5+*'s for DL but unfortunately lately, I've had to give humans 2*'s. Trash left everywhere. People sneaking in. :( , etc. it's not been a fun time at DL this summer, but not due to DL.

I'm reluctant to review this site because it's such a gem that I don't want it to be overrun. Sure, there's raccoons at night but this is their home, not yours, and keeping food and toiletries out of your tent will avert any problems. The area is generally super quiet at night, especially compared to the North Shore campground which has over 400 camping sites. The bird noises referred to in another review are Great Blue Herons that nest in the trees in the middle of the group site. If there guttural squawking bothers you then you're better off staying in a motel! Hiking up a 500 bluff and from there it's ~ a 5 mile hike around the lake. Best of all: there's little or no cell service at this site!

Questions & Answers

Why is it named Devils....huh?

It is located in a deep chasm with no inlet or outlet, that is how it got its name.

I'd like to camp there the week of Oct 15th for a couple of nights. One person, one vehicle, primitive camping. Is that possible?

Sure. If it is available. That is a large site for one person.
