Don’t be fooled by the condition of the lobby of this hotel. It is in disrepair all the way from the water stained walls in the hall and filthy stained and buckled carpet. The rooms smell like a kennel and the couch/ chairs are stained and dirty. After 30 minutes in our first floor room we further discover that there was no hot water and then we spotted a palmetto bug. We couldn’t react fast enough to kill it and we were not interested in sleeping on the bed that would be shared with the roach. When we called the desk to report the condition and request another room, we were hung up on. At the desk it was as though we were dealing with Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde with one clerk being accommodating and the other finding joy in harassing and being rude. It is obvious that this hotels problems are systemic and need to be reported.

Positive: The location was perfect. Breakfast was always great!! Even the cook was always in a good mood and he loves his job. The pool was very nice. Negative: Had an issue with the pull out couch. Was mentioned to the front desk the evening we checked in. Nothing was done. Told the front again the next day and they replaced the bed and a cushion that didn¿t smell to good.

Well, I’ve never stayed in a hotel where you are required to take out your own trash. Kudos to the unsmiling desk clerk who told me that with a straight face behind the bank-grade security plexiglas at the counter. No maid service at all, actually. Makes sense I guess seeing how all the carpet is buckled down the hallway and the walls water damaged. Want to work out? No problem, provided you have the time to work one arm at a time on their busted equipment. These observations are just from the first floor. In all fairness, the desk clerk on duty yesterday was great in spite of the conditions she has to work in. I would say the rest had the temperament of distempered cats, but that would be unfair to distempered cats. I’ve stayed in this hotel for 13 years when I visit Spartanburg, so this is not a drive by critique. I think my evaluation has the advantage of context. This hotel used to be in good repair with good service. Apparently those were the good ole days.

Nice, clean, large room for a fair price. We arrived exhausted around 2am and the lady running the front desk was very nice and efficient. Got a pet friendly room booked quickly for the night upon our arrival. When we brought our dog in, she asked to pet him and to give him a treat, which she happily gifted our pup once we gave our approval. Overall a very positive experience and would recommend this location to others!

Yes, they graciously accept pets. No employee on staff during our stay ever made us feel awkward with our pets.
