*UPDATE 3/02/19: This practice is now closed permanently; a complete surprise to me and other recent patients. Like others, I discovered Dr Keenan & Fallbrook-Rancho Surgery practice was closed down when I called regarding complications I was having from a recent surgery. No prior notice was given about the closing. No forwarding or contact info given. No other doctor following up with recent surgical patients. The recording said they were closed down, and you could leave a message if you were a post-op patient. I left a message with all my info. I did not hear back from Dr Keenan (or anyone) for about 2 weeks... which was coincidentally the same day I requested an urgent appointment with my primary doc- explaining that the surgeon was no longer available for follow-up. I suspect my primary doc's office called Dr Keenan. The consequence of Dr Keenan not being available for follow-up meant that I'd have to see whomever was available at my primary doc's office for an "urgent" appointment instead of with the surgeon who's most knowledgeable about post-cholecystectomy issues. (And instead of seeing a more experienced/qualified MD.) I got to see a 25 year old PA in my doc's office (younger than my own kid) whose eyes glaze over if you need to discuss any issue more serious or complicated than Botox injections. This has created a HUGE setback for me and my recovery. Also, since the young PA can't deal with complicated health issues, I'm stuck waiting for a new referral to a GI specialist...which takes weeks at best. So... after having a good experience previously with Dr Keenan and the hospital my surgery took place, a great deal of that high opinion has been diminished and my trust broken. It was terribly unprofessional and a not-so-classy thing to shutter the practice without notice and leave patients hanging. It's left me in a bad position... and living with 24/7 nausea, stomach pain & upset. _______________________________ ORIGINAL REVIEW: My experience with Dr Keenan has been very good overall. I found Dr Keenan to be pleasant, professional, and a pretty good communicater. Though my interactions with the rest of his office staff were quite limited, I found them friendly & helpful too. I was referred to Dr Kennan by my primary doctor—to evaluate weather I should have my gallbladder removed or not—in December 2018. I decided to have the surgery Surgery took place at Rancho Springs Medical Center, and that experience was VERY good. Surprisingly so, based on my previous, not-so-stellar experience in their ER. (See my review for Rancho Springs.) I saw Dr Keenan in hospital just before surgery and just after... and saw him in his Murrieta office for a post-op follow-up. Surgery went well and recovery has been surprisingly fast & easy with very little pain. His post-op instructions were nice & clear. He told me to contact his office if I have any concerns or issues related to surgery.

Dr. Keenan and his staff did an exceptional job for me. I had a lower hernia that had been progressing over 3 years and had gotten to the point where I could barely walk. They did an excellent job on my surgery and I had none of the after effects and issues that I heard from so many others that have had a similar surgery. I cant say enough about Dr. Keenan and his staff, totally professional in both the office and during/after the surgery. The other posters who claim he would not listen might be a little sensitive. He is very serious about his work and it shows. This was my first and only surgery and I would highly recommend this Dr. and his office to anyone.

Not a good experience with this surgeon. Typical egotistical medical doctor, who does not listen to his patients needs, discriminates against you for using alternative methods of treatments, and walks out of the room when you advocate for yourself. Refuse this surgeon if by some horrible chance he is assigned to you.

Dr Keenan's practice (Rancho-Fallbrook Surgery) is closed down. Permanently, as far as I know.
Good luck with that. I had surgery in Dec, started having problems from it in Feb. Called his office only to hear a recording that the entire practice was closed permanently. Their voicemail says to leave a message if you're one of his post-op patients. I left a message but didn't hear back from anyone for a couple weeks. Sure would've been helpful if they had given current patients a heads up that the office was closing... and a contact number for recent surgical patients... and info on how to get your records. Not too professional in my book.
