The rating is based only on the food and the service, and not on the building and interior decor (more on that later). This was our first time at the Mountain View Restaurant. The food was reasonably priced (especially considering the large portions) and my wife pronounced her meal to be like "old-fashioned home cooking." We both were full after eating about half of our portions, and we took the rest with us to enjoy again the next day. The business is located in what was clearly an old steak house, and "old" was the first word that came to my mind when we drove up to the place. Given the building's rather sad exterior appearance, I would have driven on by if the parking lot had not been almost full. The interior won't be winning any design awards, either. But the locals seem to love it, the Health Inspection rating was 96% (yes, I looked) and good food trumps everything else in my book. Final verdict: the building desperately needs updating, but if we ever return to King's Mountain, we will be eating there again for the home cooking.

The food was good however the service could have been better. Our waitress did not come to our table to check on us and when she did it was because I called her over. Do a better job.

Great food, friendly staff, and very accommodating! Highly recommend and worth the small detour from the highway. Beats the mass produced fast food options by a mile!!!
