Costco Vision Center in La Mesa sold me expensive frames and lenses which were made incorrectly twice. The first time the manager was professional and polite, figured out what was wrong, and sent them to be remade. The second time, she was less polite (someone got her out of a meeting to talk to me even though I had not asked them to) and she passed me over to Chuck. Chuck was unpleasant, uncommunitive, and rude although he ultimately refunded my money (hence 2 stars instead of one). I tried to thank him but he walked off before I could. So my advice, if you take your chances buying glasses at Costco Vision Center in La Mesa, is to avoid being helped by Chuck. Good luck!

Please don't go to Costco Optical in La Mesa to give you glasses that are made to your doctor's prescription. I bought several pairs that were all wrong. This was during the pandemic so I didn't see my Optometrist who would have routinely checked the prescription. When I finally saw my optometrist, she was shocked by how "off" the lenses were. I contacted Costco; they refunded my money. I am so disturbed that I could have had much better vision if the employees and the lab had checked them before giving them to me. I really feel like someone needs to shut them down so others don't experience what I did.

This review is NOT for the glasses center, only for the Optometrists office! I called and left a voicemail and received a callback within 24 hours. I was able to schedule an Appt for the following week. When I arrived, the receptionist was fielding several drop in questions. She did an incredible job of keeping me as a priority while juggling their requests. The dr saw me quickly and took attention to everything I asked. Backstory: I received my initial prescription in 2004 and I hadn’t been back to an eye dr. In 2012 I wanted new glasses and had a terrible experience with the wrong prescription and no support. The Dr at Costco ensured I was comfortable and satisfied before I left. I was not rushed at all. I am glad that I did not allow other reviews to discourage me. I can see! And I have my prescription to order more contacts.

They have my contacts at a good price. But I’ve already waited in line to order them. Why do I have to wait again - 15 min. or more - to pick up a pre paid order that takes less that a minute to get out for me? I stand there while they’re fixing glasses, taking new orders... poorly organized service.

Yes
Yes. They have an independent optometrist on site. You need an appointment for the optometrist, but not for buying the glasses.
