Reed Island Christmas Tree Farm

I'm rating this farm two stars because it is a really pretty, scenic area and we enjoyed our ride in... but the first sign that something was up was when we saw three cars leaving with no trees for every one that we passed that had a tree. Once we arrived it didn't take long to understand why. I wish I had taken pictures because the farm does not look like the pictures you see online. The selection was not good - it does not appear that they have kept up with replacing trees that have been harvested and the trees they had left were either not trimmed well or appeared to be diseased. I'm sure that if you were there a few years ago when probably most of the web pictures were taken it would have been fine, but unfortunately we ended up being another one of the many cars leaving without a tree as we didn't find anything at this farm that was worth paying for.

Most of the trees are poorly maintained and had not been pruned in years. After an hour and a half of wandering around the trees that were full of Briars. I found a tree that was nice on top but limbless on the bottom because of overcrowding of the trees. So I cut the top 11 ft of the tree that was usable. When I got back down to the building where they netted the trees the STRAW BOSS informed me I had to pay for the whole 14 ft tree. I explained to him that the bottom of the tree was not usable. And with a very belligerent attitude he told me it was a $200 tree and that people like me cost him $20,000 a year. I finally paid for 12 foot tree that only 10 foot was usable. This STRAW BOSS was extremely arrogant and made a very loud scene with his employees and customers looking on. I have bought several trees from this tree farm and the family that runs it were very nice. But I will not be back and I will not recommend them to others.

The farm is beautiful, kind of magical, and the staff was really helpful. Kids and dogs welcome. They only take cash or checks.

Awesome place to go for the experience of choosing your own tree. Free hot chocolate or apple cider. Jams and jellies. And Santa has been here this weekend.
