Beautiful tennis courts
Brian Lutz (Backhand City)
Great location to play tennis on the water front in downtown Miami. There is a nice shaded area between the tennis courts and ample room between both courts if you have a doubles game so there is lots of room on the side lines. Fences are high and the courts are newly resurfaced with fresh paint. There are a lot of bird baths on the court so it takes longer than normal to dry in the hot Miami sun but with a breeze off Biscayne Bay they dry quickly. Courts are located next to the sand pit where they play beach volleyball and a few blocks away from the basketball courts. The tennis courts are first come first serve and do get busy especially early morning and evening play. The courts are open from 8am to 10pm at night. If you do come here during prime hours expect to have to wait. Technically, there are no tennis lessons supposed to happen here but the demand is so high from the tennis community they do happen. If you are looking for organized tennis programs for adults in Miami try Backhand City. There is also a really good health food restaurant across the street that sells refreshing smoothies for after tennis.

The courts are first come first serve and they are complimentary.
There was once a decentralized reservation system that someone in the tennis community tried to initiate but the city of miami posted a sign not authorizing the system so now it is back to first come first serve.
Are you looking for junior tennis lessons or adult tennis lessons?
You can rent tennis courts at Crandon Park Tennis Center in Key Biscayne or Flamingo Park in Miami Beach.
Yes, that is prime time for these tennis courts. Mid afternoon you might be able to get a court but it is the hot part of the day.
Yes, they are free and first come first serve but they can be busy and have a waiting time depending on the time you want to play (early morning) or after work on weeknights.
