I came to this place looking for some authentic Caribbean/Haitian food, the fact that we were served by THE CHEF IVAN HIMSELF made me think that I was in for a two hour experience of real Haiti, what I got instead was an insult of my intelligence as the "shrimp creole creole" dish (the star of their menu) came with five! (5) shrimp and canned mushrooms with a bland sauce that would make taco bell proud of their original recipes. The cod fish fritters were truly the most surprising element of the evening, given their lack of fish. The people from Haiti have suffered a lot through their history and when I saw this place packed with them, I knew they were in for some more suffering once again.

We drove from Broward County to Ivan's in N.Miami, We walked into the restaurant it was empty around 3:30P.M. Ivan's (himself) seated us, we felt like we was more of a bother instead of a customer to him. No hospitality at all. We planned on having lunch there but his attitude quickly killed our appetites therefore we just had appetizer jerk wings and rum punch. The wings were awesome the rum punch was missing the rum.Nice decor spacious seating however Ivan himself is the damper to his restaurant. Sad sad sad when it's the chef/owner that destroying his own restaurant.

Honestly Chef Ivan NEVER disappoints. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is to die for. I am usually a very slow eater but not when I come here. I order at least one or two new dishes every time I come here to eat and everything always leaves me breathless. There’s not many places where I can say everything on the menu is amazing. Down to the way Chef Ivan places the food on the plate. I wish I could just live in his restaurant and order food here everyday. This will be an unforgettable experience. I ate my food so quick I forgot to take pictures.

Hands down great food. I love the music he played and the location. The only reason its a 4 rating is that the owner was rude in the beginning. However, towards the middle of lunch he mention that he is the waiter and cook due to short staff. I commend him for keep pushing thru. Yes there's a 18% gratuity but it was worth it.

Questions & Answers

Is this eatery as awful as the reviews picture it? I am looking for some original Haitian food in the Miami area that is not Chez Creole. I am concerned about visiting this restaurant.

How's the price for two ppl? How is jazz nights? Food looks good or I'm just greedy lol I'm willing to try in spite the reviews. Hopefully my visit will be good. I don't like bland food tho. 🤔

We were there last month. There's a reason the chef won Chopped and that the restaurant was featured in Diners Drive-ins & Dives. It's excellent food as well as service. We were there for Jazz night coincidentally. Great music!
