A truly, truly amazing place. After my Amazon passed away, I found this rescue and made a donation in my baby's name. Donna, the owner, reached out and thanked me and got to know more about my sweetheart which I so appreciated. Over the next two months she was there as a support through my grieving even never having met me. Her compassion and love for birds is palpable. When scrolling the adoptions page on their website one day, my boyfriend and I fell in love with their birds and decided we needed to meet them. A couple weeks later and here we are with our new feather babies, an Amazon and a B&G Macaw who have helped heal us and have made our family whole again. The work Donna and her team do at SCBR is so incredibly wonderful. It is clear that those birds are well loved for as long as they are at the rescue; they make sure the homes that are thinking of adopting are the best for their parrots. They do so much for abused, sick, old, or scared birds that come into their care; their birds have a second chance on life. I highly recommend SCBR to anyone looking to adopt a parrot of any kind or if you're looking to donate in your own feather baby's name like I was. Thank you Donna and SCBR for everything you do.

God bless these good people. I brought in a injured bird after keeping it a night. They kept in touch with me and advised me what to do until I made it in.

Such a wonderful place and such a gift to provide loving care to all these birds of different feathers. There are at least 100 birds, large species to tiny species and everything in between that Donna takes care of daily. She actually cuts up fresh vegetables, fruits, along with seeds, nuts, etc for daily meals. Many of these birds were abused, some lived longer than their owner (birds live longer than most humans), some are boarding, and many are just not wanted any longer after the thrill is gone and life moves on. Kudos to Donna for dedicating her life to caring for these beautiful birds. You can choose Second Chance Bird Rescue West Coast in Bend, OR on AmazonSmile so everytime you order on AmazonSmile this wonderful place gets a helping hand with a small donation from Amazon!

By appointment only. Call contact number.

How much is the adoption fee? Is it species or size specific? If so what is the adoption fee for your Amazon's or medium sized birds?

Hi Mary Ann, the adoption fee differs depending on bird species and possibly other factors. No, this is not a place to find a cheap parrot, it's strictly for folks dedicated to homing a troubled or abused bird. I don't work there but am an adopter and avid supporter. 😃

Hello, I’m wanting to adopt a bird to be my company through this difficult times in quarantine. I would like to know Do you pay an adoption fee when you adopt a bird?

Yes, there is an adoption fee because parrots are expensive to care for. They run on donations and need to have fees. I have not found them to be outrageous. If you can afford to take care of a parrot, then you can afford the adoption fee.
