We just returned from a trip to Taos and stayed to El Monte Sagrado. for four nights. We have stayed in resort hotels all over the world, and this one ranks very high on the list. Beautiful grounds and classic Southwest decorated rooms, convenient location to walk to town, and well trained and friendly staff. The De La Tierra restaurant was outstanding. Their breakfasts were better than any we have had at either Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton hotels! We also had a wonderful dinner there - impressive food and great wine selections. The restaurant manager, Candy, was especially kind and helpful...and our breakfast server, Tai, was also outstanding. My wife and I also had an amazing massage from Nancy in the hotel's "Living Spa". . Overall a great experience.

Our stay at El Monte Sagrado is always great. Mark the GM is very friendly and helpful. Our server Tai was great. Our bartender Rick new his stuff, and Marcos and Ashley out front take care of everything upon arrival. We will be back

First, it’s beyond the nicest place I have ever been. It’s a true “resort”. It’s elegant and elevated and the staff are simply professional and KIND. There are several interesting things in the area like Buddhist retreats, so if your family has mixed interests, this would be a great “base” to explore from. Also, they showed compassion and love for people affected and working on the recent fires and made rooms available for them. Again, kindness. Not enough stars.

This hotel is bad in so many respects. Especially for the price. Consider it had no robes, no slippers, no privacy between the bathroom and the bedroom. The doors are really LOUD when opened. They only provide 2 paper cups in the room! They position towel racks so the towels hang onto the toilet. The shower is 50 sq feet but the pressure weak and not very hot. The mini fridge is completely empty and at check in they only provide 2 8oz bottles of water. Yes the campus is pretty but the pool is gross and the hot tub is encircled with dangerous non functional light fixtures or jets of some kind. The clientele has a family that’s about to divorce vibe. Maybe during ski season but there is only a single hot tub. Definitely one if the worst hotels for value I’ve ever stayed in. All this at 600+ a night. Oh and there’s no place to charge your phone next to the bed on either side.

Did not see any children during my stay. I am sure there are some things for them in Town.
Anyone is welcome to come and swim with a guest, but only guests have keys to the pool room. It is private from the public.
