Hi Sharon, you are correct, OHP doesn’t cover weight loss care unless done through the patients primary care provider. Self pay is the only option available at this time. One creative way we have seen self pay patients maximize their dollars has been to begin the program with an initial visit and the first months follow up, then follow up with appointments at an every 2-3 month interval; they utilize the weekly weigh-ins and staff support to maintain momentum and experience successful weight loss. The real key to success is the patients commitment and willingness to make the life changes that will benefit them long term.
