Worst experience, would give 0 stars if possible. Took my mom there just after her Dr saw her and suspected she broke her arm. If working hours are until 4:30pm, doesn't that mean they should take patients until that time??? We rushed to get an x-ray and were at the window at 4:25. We were told it's closed and that machines were off?!?! Oh, and we could come back on Monday! Ridiculous!!! My mom's arm is purple and she is in pain. I would never wish this kind of treatment on anyone! Shame on them!!!

On March 25, 2021 at 11:30 am I underwent a Abdominal and Pelvic CT Scan. The purpose of this letter is to share my personal experience. I arrived on time and was seen on time by a technician whom I do not her name so I will describe her as best I can: Middle aged, 5’6’, slender build, wore glasses, of asian descent, black/grey hair. I was sitting in the waiting room when I heard my name being called. I responded and was led by her to the CT scan room during which she asked me many preliminary questions. Her questions were the standard professional questions I expected prior to any medical appointment. Her demeanor in asking those questions however was what caught my attention. My interpretation of her demeanor was that she knew without any doubt or hesitancy exactly what she was doing; that she was definitely “in command” in a way that I immediately relaxed and willingly gave myself to her so that she could help me. I knew I would be ok...and that if it somehow developed during the CT scan that I wasn’t, she’d find the way to make it so. I trusted this person with my body while it was inside a cramped steel tunnel undergoing a very unnatural examination that included iodine heating my body and making me feel nauseous. I trusted I would be OK. I’d like to say more . . . For me, a gushy warm heartfelt sounding medical person or one singing “Good Morning Stephen!” is not helpful. Nor is a nurturing mother sounding person. Likewise I do not need a cold matter-of-fact sterile tone that says “You’re just another patient I’ve gotta deal with today”, or, “I know better than you about your body” like the 50’s sitcom title “Father Knows Best” exemplifies. So what is it exactly that’s helpful to me? How can I express this exactly is difficult for ….what I do know, is that I “heard” it in the technician that assisted me during the CT scan. I expressed my thoughts before the actual scan. During the sca, she must have thought about my comments. Afterwards she asked me if I thought she was bossy or something like that. I responded, “No not at all”. I explained my comments in another way that communicated effectively what I did mean: the quality of her words and tone instilled a sense of being in me that met my needs for calmness, equanimity, relaxation, trust, and safety; and that those needs had rarely been met in any medical setting, ever. The point of this entire letter: I want this technician to know that she possess a rare gift of communication I want Sutter Health to know about my experience so as to also recognize and appreciate this person. My hope is that this will foster a discussion within Sutter about how to help other employees meet patients needs in a respectful satisfying manner. Thank you for reading and considering my thoughts and feelings. Lastly, again to the technician: “Thank you for your care of all of me (body - thoughts - feelings) during the CT scan. I appreciate you. I hope your example inspires others in the medical establishment to follow in your footsteps. And I hope Sutter Health recognises and honors your contribution to Sutter Health.” Sincerely, SMC

Wife comes here for ultrasound of baby, due to covid-19 they wont allow Me (Father) in which is understandable, yet they would not allow video call of the ultrasound so i can see my child and listen to the Doctor. When we pressured staff to allow us to video it they became rude and unmoving. We asked to speak to an office manager and was told there is none. They dont seem to care about Fathers being involved and made me and my questions about my child feel null.

I went here with a pregnant friend. The technician who performed the ultra sound spotted something, not right, in the images of my friends ultra sound. She told my friend what she saw and explained what it meant. Then she called in the doctor (Weiss) who confirmed her suspicions and more! Within 15 minutes we were at Alta bates and I'm happy to say my friend received excellent care and her pre term labor was stopped.
